Flat Rock is a dive site further out to sea than Shag Rock and Mantaray Bommie – needing good conditions for the very best diving. The Eastern side has a steep, deep drop off, down to gutters in 30m plus, where, in Winter, a big group of bachelor Grey Nurse Sharks hang out together. The Western side is shallower and more sheltered, giving home to plate corals, and the smaller fish that dont enjoy the rougher exposed seas.
